In “Bowls Are the New Plates” I wanted to freely explore color and pattern within a specific shape. The shape of bowls is one that I often come back in my work, because it evokes in me the memory of daily objects at home. The title of this series comes from a phrase that became part of my family lore during a short trip to the beach when all we could find to serve food were bowls. We laughed at the fact that these days, bowls are more popular than plates.
